De kosten bedragen 500.000 euro. Het ErasMS Fonds is met de familie en vrienden van Rogier een actie gestart om het geld in te zamelen. Rogier wordt intens gemist en is een inspiratie voor velen. Hij vond dat we moesten blijven zoeken naar een betere behandeling van MS.<br \/>\nHet was zijn wens de rol van T-cellen in het ontstaan van MS te onderzoeken. We weten uit onderzoek d\u00e1t T-cellen een rol hebben, we weten echter niet w\u00e9lke rol ze hebben in het ontstaan van MS. Normaal komen T-cellen in actie om ongewenste ziekteverwekkers in het lichaam te bestrijden. Maar in het geval van MS vallen T-cellen het lichaam aan, in plaats van het te beschermen. Door de individuele T-cellen te isoleren en te analyseren hoopte Rogier tot nieuwe inzichten te komen. De modernste technologie voor het analyseren van de individuele T-cellen is \u2018single cell sequencing\u2019.
